ELITE Named a 2018 Top Green Provider by Food Logistics Magazine
Elite Transit Solutions (ELITE), a premier logistics service provider in the U.S commercial transportation industry, has been named as one of Food Logistics’ 2018 Top Green Providers, the annual list of the industry’s most environmentally-conscientious companies. Being honored on the 2018 list marks the second consecutive year ELITE has been named a Top Green Provider. ELITE is also one of the lists “featured” companies this year, the best-of-the-best for 2018.
“A company’s carbon footprint is a reflection of that organization’s efficiency, culture, and leadership. ELITE is proud to be recognized for the second time as one of the Top Green Providers in the food logistics industry. This award is an honor that reflects our commitment to the environment, as well as our attention to sustainable business practices,” stated Michael Johnson, CEO, ELITE.
According to the EPA’s Inventory of U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Sinks, medium and heavy-duty trucks accounted for 23 percent of transportation-related greenhouse gas emissions and roughly 6 percent of total GHG emissions in the United States in 2015.
“Our transportation management system automates 80% of tasks related to day-to-day freight logistics. The result is that we have successfully decreased the average time a truck driver is idle by 642%, from an average of approximately 45 minutes per load to a mere 7 minutes,” Johnson added. “Minimizing such inefficiencies for our carriers has a remarkable environmental impact. We estimate that these improvements save our carriers 18,000-20,000 gallons of fuel annually, and decrease their CO2 emissions by 364,000-405,000lbs per year.”
This year’s Top Green Providers list consists of technology companies, 3PLs, cold storage providers, transportation providers and many others who have stepped up to the plate to become leaders in supporting a more sustainable global food supply chain.
